San Francisco Medicine

San Francisco Medicine (SFM), which has been in continuous publication since 1927, is the official journal of the San Francisco Medical Society. Published ten times a year with a subscriber base of over 3,000, San Francisco Medicine is an essential resource for San Francisco’s medical community. It is also distributed to area hospitals, libraries, legislators, allied health care professionals, retired physicians, community health organizations, health care stakeholders, and local media.

Each issue of SFM focuses on a specific topic that affects physicians and their practices, including public health, social, political, economic, and lifestyle issues.

I am a SFMS member because I believe—when I joined SFMS as a new doctor 25 years ago, and still believe now—that physicians need the advocacy of organized medicine to represent them and their patients with insurance companies, legislators, and public policy. The SFMS has often led the way with health initiatives that benefit our patients and our profession.
