Domestic Violence Guidelines (updated December 2012)
The SFMS developed guidelines on domestic violence screening and intervention for physicians and other clinicians in consultation with some of the most experienced clinicians in this arena. This guideline represents a concise and clinically based approach to this complex issue, distilling knowledge from existing, longer documents. The brochure has been widely distributed and well received by clinicians citywide and beyond, and it was cited in the Journal of the American Medical Association as one of the best such resources.

The Medical Leadership Council on Cultural Proficiency (MLC) has developed a website to be used by all MLC members and others interested in the issues of cultural proficiency, language access, and the health care workforce. SFMS is an active member of the thirty-three-member Council and is pleased to link the MLC website to our own. Medical Leadership.org has been designed to allow easy access to information for participating organizations, their members, and other health care professionals.
On the site you will find:
- Information about the MLC: Member organizations, participation agreements, and policies
- News and information: MLC reports, meeting summaries, and an events calendar
- Educational tools: CME courses, tools, and patient education materials
- Resource center
- Language Access Database, MLC presentations, and links
The Language Access Database is a county-by-county database providing information on interpretation and translation services, patient education materials in languages other than English, and community resources for patients. The database is updated regularly, and listings may be sent to the CAFP for inclusion.
- Interpretation resources by phone, VMI, or onsite
